Main Street of Morrow

Main Street of Morrow
Environmental Design
A hidden gem in the middle of Morrow, Ohio, Main Street holds historical landmarks, industrial architecture, and classic charm. However, the signage and environment of the area is run down and unable to reach its full potential. With a bike trail and roadway running through Main Street, as well as Todd Fork Bridge and the old train station, the potential this Morrow village has to reach more than just locals is evident. Taking on the task of creating a vibrant, historical environment for all to enjoy, this projects portrays just how beautiful Main Street can be by reflecting its vibrant past.
Process
Visiting the site, interviewing locals, bringing in new people to the space, and finding pain points in the breadcrumb path, the research done in regards to the existing layout of Main Street helped to fully understand the problem at hand. Designing refreshed, yet historically appropriate, design assets and applying that to different signage around the area brought the idea of "historic revival" to life.

Final
Following a clear path from the outskirts of Morrow to the heart of Main Street, the directional signage prompts the viewer to turn at the the correct places and have a sense of understanding in the space. The placemaking signage produces a memorable experience for all those on Main Street, and brings the historical charm into modern day. Combining old with new, the mix of rich heritage and current materials in design, the final path is one that will delight all those who visit the space.
